You may have seen that the Government is consulting on a potential ban of social media for under-16 year olds, examining how these platforms affect children’s wellbeing and their relationship with their phones. You can find the Government's survey here.
It’s important to strike a balance - technology can be amazing, but it should enrich young people’s lives, not harm them.
That’s why, alongside the government consultation, I’m launching my own survey to hear directly from local residents about their views on this issue. Your voice matters, and it will help shape a sensible, balanced approach that protects children while allowing them to enjoy the benefits of technology safely.
My quick survey asks:
– Are you for or against a ban? – What benefits or challenges do you see? – And what alternatives could work instead?
I want to hear from everyone - whether you’re under 16, a parent or carer, or just have a view on this issue that you would like to share.
It only takes a couple of minutes to fill in the survey which you can access below 👇
